Until recently, articles introducing the Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim have often run under some variation of the headline: "The richest man you've never heard of." That is unlikely to be the case for much longer. Slim was anointed last week by Forbes magazine as the richest man in the world, unseating Microsoft founder Bill Gates.
